Racer Awards 2008 - Event Pictures

The Irish Racer Awards housed its biggest ever crowd with 570 guests cramming into the Ramada Hotel back in January, but one man stood out among us all — 15 times World Champion, Giacomo Agostini.

The 65-year-old Italian cruised into Belfast as our guest of honour and no one can accuse him of turning up just for the signing on fee! He was still scribbling autographs for the hungry collectors at 5am, and that was after he had entertained us all on stage with quotes and anecdotes that many of those in attendance will remember for years to come.

He also got to take home a coveted Racer Star after being installed as the 2008 Nolan X-lite International Achievement Award winner, and the Lombardy born motorcycling legend had us all on the edge of our seats, when he explained his theory, behind an appearance on a boat back in the ‘60s with two scantily clad females — it brought the house down......
