AIM Yamaha
Words - PAUL LINDSAY & ROY HARRIS
THE AIM Yamaha team, owned by Scottish
entrepreneur Alistair Flanagan, are quickly
becoming one of the most successful teams on the
international road racing scene, and while we all know
what Steve Plater can do in the red, white and black
livery, former Honda pilot Ian Hutchinson has also joined
the fold, with one thing on his mind – a TT victory.
Plater had a tremendous North West 200 with a
spectacular treble, winning both supersport 600cc races
and the feature North West 200 superbike race, so
Irish Racer caught up with both riders just a
couple of days after the event to reflect on
the meeting, their season so far, and to
see what we can expect from them
both at the 2008 TT.
“I’m really happy with my treble at
the North West 200, although I was
really disappointed not to be in
contention in the first superbike
race. We had a few problems
with the superbike in practice
and we were always on the
back foot. In the race I just
never could get close
enough to Michael, John and
Guy to make a telling move."......
