Feature - Motorcycle Awards 2009
Words - PAUL LINDSAY
Jonathan Rea was voted ‘King of Irish Motorcycling’ for the second time in only
six short years at the Greenlight Television Irish Racer Motorcycle Awards back
in January. The recently turned 22-year-old, Ten Kate Honda World Superbike
star, has now won every available ‘success’ award at the annual black tie event
in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast. If he waits 40 years then we can install him in
the Bridgestone Hall of Fame or present him with an International
Achievement Award to complete the set!
The event was another huge success, thanks to our loyal readers and event
sponsors. At this stage we normally select the highlights from the evening,
but this year all 13 awards deserve an equal portion of coverage, so that’s
what we’ve done over the next six pages........
